January 1, Reality TV Star Vows to Clean Up Los Angeles
Wyatt’s Take
- Spencer Pratt says Los Angeles leaders failed wildfire victims.
- He’s entering the mayor’s race to “expose the system” after losing his own home.
- Pratt is drawing a line against the political machine, promising real change.
Reality TV personality Spencer Pratt is jumping into the Los Angeles mayor’s race, fed up with how officials responded to last year’s devastating Palisades wildfire. He made it official at the “They Let Us Burn” rally, standing with locals who lost everything and feel ignored by city and state leaders.
“It’s official,” Pratt posted. “I’m running for Mayor of LA. I’ve waited a whole year for someone to step up and challenge Karen Bass, but I saw no fighters. Guess I’m gonna have to do this myself.”
The fire destroyed thousands of structures, killed twelve people, and displaced countless families. Pratt and his wife, Heidi Montag, lost their own home and say politicians haven’t done enough to protect regular folks or fix wildfire prevention.
“The system in Los Angeles isn’t struggling, it’s fundamentally broken,” Pratt told fire survivors. “It is a machine designed to protect the people at the top and the friends they exchange favors with while the rest of us drown in toxic smoke and ash.”
Over the past year, Pratt has criticized Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom for what he calls their weak response. He and Montag even sued the city, blaming leaders for the disaster and their lack of action.
“Let me be clear, this just isn’t a campaign—this is a mission, and we are going to expose the system,” Pratt said. “We are going into every dark corner of LA politics and disinfecting the city with our light.”
Now, Pratt joins a crowded mayoral field. June’s primary will decide which two candidates move on, no matter party lines. The political class may be in for a surprise if the everyday folks he’s rallying line up behind him.
Fed up with business as usual? Our heartland values don’t make headlines in LA, but voices like Pratt’s remind America that working people shouldn’t be cast aside when disaster strikes. If you’re tired of leaders ignoring real-world struggles, stay tuned as the campaign heats up.
Wyatt Matters
Middle Americans know what it’s like to lose everything and still keep fighting. This campaign shows why regular folks deserve leaders who stand up for them, not just the insiders.
