Three months after gunfire erupted outside the Washington Hilton and forced evacuation of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, President Trump finally got his moment at the mic Friday night. And he didn’t hold back.

The rescheduled black-tie affair moved to the Waldorf Astoria — formerly the Trump International Hotel, a detail the president immediately seized on.

“It’s great to be back at a place that I know very well because I built it,” Trump said as he took the stage.

Secret Service dramatically tightened security after the spring assassination attempt, putting every guest through airport-style screening. The threat was real, but Trump turned even that into comedy gold.

“But just like my presidency the second time is always better,” Trump said. “It’s always better. And the third time will be better yet. I’m only kidding.”

Liberals immediately lost their minds on social media. Calm down, snowflakes — it was a joke.

Trump acknowledged the terror of the assassination attempt, calling it “an assault on our democracy itself” and praising the brave law enforcement officers who ran toward danger. But he couldn’t resist adding his signature touch.

“After hearing the gunshots many people yelled ‘Get down get down,’ which caused Nicki Minaj to start twerking,” Trump joked. “Do you believe it? Get down. She’s the only one that really understood what that meant.”

The room erupted. And Trump was just getting warmed up.

He declared the dinner “the largest group of Trump Derangement Syndrome people ever put together at one time.” Hard to argue with that assessment when you look at the guest list.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. took a friendly beating over his infamous roadkill controversies.

“I want you all to know that Bobby Kennedy who’s right here personally ran over the cow in his car,” Trump said about the beef tenderloin dinner. “And he cut it up and he brought it here for you to eat tonight so it’s very fresh.”

“Bobby also suggested an appetizer featuring his favorite cut of male raccoon roadkill,” Trump added. “But we drew the line at that.”

Bruce Springsteen, who recently took shots at Trump, got roasted harder than most.

“What about Bruce Springsteen? What the hell happened to that guy? He looks like hell,” Trump said, joking that The Boss had renamed his tour “Bored in the USA.”

Trump also took aim at Joe Biden, Gavin Newsom, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Adam Schiff, Rosie O’Donnell, Jake Tapper, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert. Nobody escaped.

At one point, the president announced his intention to run for a fourth term. Liberals started hyperventilating before he clarified he was joking — though not before adding, “I won 3 times now, I’m gonna do it again.”

Between the punchlines, Trump delivered his real message. He called this moment “the golden age of America” and highlighted surging investment, manufacturing growth, rising military recruitment, and falling crime in Washington, D.C.

The fake news media won’t spend much time on those accomplishments, of course.

Despite years of brutal coverage from many reporters in that room, Trump ended on a surprisingly gracious note.

“Sometimes I don’t feel you treat me fair,” he said. “Maybe you do I don’t know I don’t feel that but sometimes you treat me very fairly.”

“I have a lot of respect for your profession,” Trump continued. “Your profession’s amazing and I just wanna thank you for having me and it’s been fun.”

Then came the promise every patriotic American wanted to hear.

“We have made America great again and it’s gonna get a lot greater.”

While coastal elites sipped champagne and clutched their pearls, Trump showed exactly why regular Americans elected him — twice. He doesn’t bow to the media mob. He doesn’t apologize for telling jokes. And he doesn’t back down from celebrating American greatness, even in a room full of people who’ve spent years trying to destroy him. That’s leadership Middle America can believe in.
