  • Four suspects now charged in major Louvre jewel theft
  • Paris prosecutors worry evidence could be destroyed
  • Investigators use DNA to link suspects to crime

French prosecutors charged two more people in last month’s robbery at the Louvre, bringing the total number of suspects to four people facing serious charges.

The heist happened in broad daylight on October 19, taking less than eight minutes for thieves to steal jewelry worth over $100 million from the famous museum in Paris.

One new suspect, a 38-year-old woman from La Courneuve, faces charges of complicity in organized theft and conspiracy, while a 37-year-old man is charged with theft and conspiracy.

Both deny involvement, but the judge ordered them to stay in custody while the investigation continues. Officials fear they may work together to destroy evidence.

The 37-year-old is reportedly known to police for previous robberies.

Earlier, two more suspects were arrested and face conspiracy and organized gang theft charges. One, a 34-year-old Algerian national, was caught while trying to flee France, and authorities matched his DNA to a scooter used in the escape.

The other, a 39-year-old man, was arrested at his home and linked by DNA to items at the crime scene. He also has a record of past thefts.

Police continue working the case, determined to recover the stolen treasures and hold those responsible accountable.
