January 1, Hillary Clinton’s Lecture Upstaged by Student Protest at University

Published

on

At Columbia University, a spectacle unfolded as dozens of students walked out of a class taught by Hillary Clinton, protesting the university’s role in what they described as the “shaming” of pro-Palestinian demonstrators.

The walkout occurred during a foreign policy lecture, part of Clinton’s class on global affairs. About 30 students exited their seats, protesting an incident that targeted students who had previously condemned Israel for the 7 October Hamas attacks.

The protesters’ photographs, taken from a “secure and private” student portal, were displayed with the label “Columbia’s biggest antisemites” on trucks parked near the campus—an act the students decried as intimidation.

The New York Times captured the essence of the walkout as “planned and peaceful.”

The students, after exiting Clinton’s lecture, called for “immediate legal support for affected students” and “a commitment to student safety, well being and privacy.”

They joined other demonstrators in the school’s lobby, while the school’s dean, Keren Yarhi-Milo, expressed support for the students’ concerns after the lecture.

Clinton, known for her staunch pro-Israel stance and recently condemning ceasefire advocates for their supposed ignorance of Hamas, was not present to witness the aftermath of the walkout.

The university, recognizing the gravity of the situation, has unveiled a taskforce against doxxing—a response to the events that disturbed not only the students at the center of the controversy but the broader campus community as well.

The protest, according to a Columbia spokesperson, wasn’t aimed specifically at Clinton’s class, but rather targeted multiple classes in an “act of solidarity not tied to any political ideals or figures.”

Clinton, who served as Barack Obama’s first-term secretary of state, has been teaching her class, “Inside the Situation Room,” since September. Her high-profile presence at Columbia has not been without controversy, with logistical reshuffles causing frustration among students.

The incident raises questions about the intersection of academia, freedom of expression, and the right to protest—issues at the heart of Clinton’s course, which aimed to delve into “fundamental questions” about the renewal of democracy.

Yet, it seems the real lesson on democracy unfolded not inside the Situation Room but within the hallowed halls and the stirred conscience of Columbia University’s student body.

these school of “lower education” should stop getting federal funds. The ignorance of the facility and students demonstrates a lack of the education that they are supposed to be teaching. And, having a clown like hillary also shows a lack of institutional reality.

I am confused – just WHAT were these students protesting? The antisemites? The people calling out the antisemites? Think we need a play-by-play for this whole thing…! Sure surprises me, however, that Clinton, a known Lefty, would support Israel. Does not put her on my “good” list, exactly, but think these students should know the truth about Hamas, “palestinians,” the whole nine yards before they go off on their “protest.” That it was peaceful is in their favor, much like the Vietnam War protests we staged at a local university (then college) in the early 70’s. We were told IF it got at all rowdy, we’d be expelled (a private, not public college I might add). Really think that we just stood still, in a circle, with black armbands, in silence, said more than any “Hell no, we won’t go!” type of protest. Universities/colleges are supposed to be a place where discussions can take place – opposing views expressed, but respectfully, with some degree of dignity. How else can we hope to change someone else’s mind?!

The support of Israel has been a mainstay of national policy for decades now. What these “students’ are protesting is the possibility that others may call them out on their support of a terrorist organization and make them pay a societal or economic price for their ill-considered and sophomoric positions. These students don’t want that inconvenience. They demand protest but without being publicly identified – which is what all the masks being dawned by the various factions of the Dem/Lefist “brown-shirts” are all about.

IF you read the Article correctly (which said: “The protest, according to a Columbia spokesperson, wasn’t aimed specifically at Clinton’s class, but rather targeted multiple classes in an “act of solidarity not tied to any political ideals or figures.”), you would know that the student walk-out during her lecture wasn’t protesting her but they felt they were being intimidated for a prior incident that targeted students who had previously condemned Israel for the October 7th Hamas attacks.

Obama should keep his mouth shut since he was the one who fueled antisemitism during his Administration by supporting Iran and other Islamic countries. His promise to transform America came true as millions of Muslims were admitted into this country; now they are showing their true mission by stirring up more hatred for Jews here and abroad. If and when Iran gets a nuclear bomb capability it will no doubt unleash a terrible force on Israel, which will ignite a world wide nuclear Armageddon.

Why are you criticizing Obama? The only time his name was mentioned in this Article was in reference to Hilary Clinton being his Secretary of State.
