January 1, Left Wing Expands Dark Money Empire with Telescope Fund

Published

on

The nation’s most industrious left-wing dark money machine has discreetly incorporated a new entity into its network of nonprofits, according to recently discovered documents. The Telescope Fund emerged as the seventh organization under the management of the elusive for-profit company Arabella Advisors in 2021. This addition to the network is significant, as Arabella Advisors is renowned for channeling hundreds of millions of untraceable dollars into left-leaning political and advocacy groups, as reported by The Washington Free Beacon.

The newly established nonprofit will offer donor-advised funds (DAFs), a type of charitable account that enables donors to conceal their giving by directing donations through a DAF. These DAFs distribute funds to organizations based on the original donor’s advice and with the charity maintaining the fund’s consent. Donations are made in the charity’s name, effectively concealing the source of the funds.

Arabella’s network serves as one of the primary financial hubs for the American left. The groups it manages have funneled hundreds of millions into voter mobilization efforts targeting pro-Democratic demographics, abortion advocacy groups, left-leaning political committees, and other liberal causes.

Documents obtained by the Free Beacon confirm that Arabella Advisors is managing the Telescope Fund. Steve Sampson, a spokesperson for Arabella Advisors, confirmed the relationship between the firm and the Telescope Fund to the Daily Caller News Foundation.

“Arabella Advisors works for the Telescope Fund, not the other way around,” Sampson stated. “We are proud to provide administrative support and accounting services related to the fund’s grantmaking and operations.”

The Telescope Fund was initially launched in 2021 as a subsidiary of the Arabella-managed New Venture Fund, as per the Free Beacon. The New Venture Fund is currently under investigation by the District of Columbia attorney general to determine whether it violated charity laws by working to help elect Democratic candidates. Such activities are prohibited for nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status, like the New Venture Fund.

In 2022, the Telescope Fund sought to obtain independent 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), according to the Free Beacon. The IRS granted the organization’s request in 2023, as indicated by documents obtained by the Free Beacon.

The founding documents of the Telescope Fund project that it will be capable of raising more than $200 million annually by 2025, as reported by the Free Beacon. In 2022, the fund raised $30 million, the majority of which came from the Fidelity Investments Charitable Gift Fund, another nonprofit that administers DAFs, as shown by tax documents.

In line with other nonprofits in Arabella’s network, the Telescope Fund financed voter mobilization organizations in 2022, a year marked by a contentious midterm election. The Telescope Fund did not immediately respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.

Why It Matters (op-ed)

The left’s hypocrisy is on full display with the discovery of the Telescope Fund joining the Arabella Advisors’ dark money network. As they preach transparency, they’re funneling millions of dollars to support their radical agenda, all while hiding their donors’ identities.

This expansion of their network only serves to strengthen their influence in shaping American politics and culture. It’s crucial that we expose their tactics and demand accountability. The American people deserve to know who’s pulling the strings behind these liberal causes.
