Texas Reports Shocking Numbers Amid Abortion Ban
Abortions performed in Texas fell by 60% in the first month after the implementation of the state’s law banning the procedure after six weeks, according to new data from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
In August, there were a total of 5,404 clinic abortions. The number dropped dramatically in September to 2,197.
The data shows that there had been at least 4,200 abortions performed each month until the measure, Senate Bill 8, was put in place.
State health officials said more data will be released on a monthly basis.
