Former National Security Advisor John Bolton quipped that he was “embarrassed” that an Iranian military official only offered $300,000 for his assassination.

The Justice Department recently announced that it had filed charges against Shahram Poursafi, a member of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), for putting a hit on former President Donald Trump’s national security adviser.

Bolton was asked about the failed plot during a recent interview on CNN’s “The Situation Room.”

“Well, I was embarrassed at the low price. I thought it would have been higher,” Bolton joked. “Maybe it was an exchange rate problem or something.”

According to the Justice Department, starting in Oct. 2021, Poursafi attempted to hire someone in the U.S. to kill Bolton in exchange for $300,000.

The person Poursafi was in contact with was actually an FBI informant — a “confidential human source” (CHS).

Poursafi allegedly told the CHS he had “a second job” for them that would pay $1 million. An unnamed source told CNN the second target was former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Hey Bolton I think it was over priced. I am sure some would do the deed for far less money.
