January 1, Emotional Underdog Faces NFL Spotlight After Family Triumphs

Wyatt’s Take
- Fernando Mendoza became the top pick for the Las Vegas Raiders.
- He stayed home with his mother, who fights multiple sclerosis, instead of taking the big stage.
- The rookie says he still feels like an underdog and is ready to compete in Las Vegas.
“The last five months have been such a blessing by God, and I can’t thank him enough,” Mendoza said during an interview.
“I heard my mom say, ‘I’m so proud of you’ and that kind of broke me,” he added about the emotional moment.
“I believe I’m still the underdog, although the draft was today,” Mendoza shared with reporters.
He praised the Lord for his success after spending his first moments as a professional athlete reflecting on the journey. He led Indiana to a national championship before making the jump to the big leagues.
The young athlete joins a franchise looking for stability at the quarterback position for the first time in years. He plans to focus on getting the ball to his teammates and playing his part in the system.
Wyatt Matters
It is refreshing to see a young man who values faith and family over the glitz of a draft stage. Middle America respects a person who works for everything they have and gives the glory to God.

You are blessed and as an MS patient, with the blessing of God, life continues. I get up every morning and workout everyday thankfully that I still can! I enjoy your dedication to GOD and your MOM!

Well, unfortunately, with the moral principles this young man apparently has, the nfl will have him ground up and spit out in no time, regardless of how talented he is.
