January 1, Congressman Shuts Down MSNBC Host in Tense Interview

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) shut down an MSNBC host who suggested that some of his GOP colleagues voted for him to be House speaker just because he’s Black.
During the recent rounds of voting for House speaker, Donalds earned 20 votes from some of his Republican colleagues who didn’t support Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). The two-term congressman would’ve been the first Black House speaker.
But Democrats have since diminished Donalds’ qualifications. Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) called Donalds a “prop” who aligns with white supremacy.
MSNBC host Joy Reid echoed Bush’s sentiments during an interview with Donalds, wherein she repeatedly interrupted the congressman and suggested that Republicans only supported him to “make a diversity statement.”
“Do you not believe that the idea was to make a diversity statement by nominating you?” Reid asked.
Donalds quickly shut down the notion.
“That was not the idea, because I was in the room when the decision was made by people who chose to nominate me,” he said.
“The reality is that a lot of members actually do believe in my ability to lead. They do,” Donalds continued.
“Am I to be despised for my youth because I served one term when members know I have the ability to engage other members? Listen, we were at an impasse in our speakership elections. We got that done. Kevin McCarthy is now speaker of the House. At the same time, I was working with members on both sides of our conference to make sure that we can get the job done, and we did. That’s the only thing that matters.”

That MSNBC host would not let him answer her questions, because it wasn’t going the way she wanted it to. Definitely tells you that MSNBC is a Democratic media. Shut them down since she kept saying that it wasn’t true if he didn’t agree with her. This is one reason that I do not listen to or watch any media. You can’t believe anything they say, because all they say are lies and misleading.

What a sham of an interviewer this Joy Whoever is!!! Tried to talk over Byron Donalds ALL the time, put words in his mouth, kept repeating her opinion as fact!! Arrrrghhhh!!!!! This young Representative is one to watch as a born leader of the Republican party and, I think, would have done well as Speaker of the House!!!

I agree. Biden did the same thing when he appointed the new supreme court justice. He didn’t even hide it. He flat out said he wanted a black women. Where were Joy Reid’s questions to Biden asking him if he was only supporting Kamala Harris and Ketanji Brown Jackson “to make a diversity statement”. It’s really pathetic that these talking heads on TV don’t even realize the hypocrisy of their questions.
