January 1, Kimmel Claps Back at Trump’s Oscars Critique on Live TV

Published

on

Jimmy Kimmel, the host of the Academy Awards, took a moment during the ceremony to respond to criticism from Donald Trump. Trump had shared his thoughts on Kimmel’s performance via his platform, Truth Social, and Kimmel didn’t hesitate to share them with the audience.

As Al Pacino prepared to present the Best Picture award to “Oppenheimer,” Kimmel read aloud Trump’s critique. “Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars. His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be,” Trump wrote.

Kimmel, undeterred by the harsh words, retorted, “Well, thank you, President Trump. Thank you for watching, I’m surprised you’re still – isn’t it past your jail time?”

Trump is no stranger to expressing his opinions during award ceremonies, and he certainly didn’t hold back when it came to Kimmel.

“Get rid of Kimmel and perhaps replace him with another washed up, but cheap, ABC ‘talent,’ George Slopanopoulos,” Trump suggested. He added, “He would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger, and more glamorous.”

Trump didn’t stop at criticizing Kimmel. He also took a shot at the Oscars as a whole. “Also a really bad politically correct show tonight, and for years – Disjointed, boring, and very unfair,” Trump said.

“Why don’t they just give the Oscars to those that deserve them. Maybe that way their audience and TV ratings will come back from the depths. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump concluded.

Kimmel’s response to Trump’s critique began with a dismissive, “Blah, blah, blah… Okay, now, see if you can guess which former president just posted that on Truth Social. Anyone? No?” He then followed up with his jail-time comment.

The audience, filled with celebrities, reacted positively to Kimmel’s comeback, with many clapping enthusiastically.

Why It Matters (op-ed)

Once again, the Oscars prove they’re nothing more than a platform for left-wing elites to mock conservatives and our values. Kimmel’s decision to use the prestigious stage to ridicule President Trump is a clear example of Hollywood’s ongoing contempt for the right.

Instead of celebrating achievements in film, the Oscars sink further into political correctness and alienate viewers who don’t subscribe to their liberal agenda. Trump’s comments may be harsh, but they’re not unfounded. The declining ratings of the Oscars only reinforce the need for a return to focusing on merit and artistry, rather than using the event as a political soapbox.

The precipitous decline in ratings for the Oscars is validation that the Hollywood former elites are so out of touch with America and our values that their backslapping themselves show is as poorly accepted as the ratings indicate (down 60%!! in 25+ years).

Their incoherence as to the important issues affecting the majority of Americans is a stark reminder of how Americans regard former and faux elite(s). My barber is far better informed than these empty suit and dresses. There was an elegance and panache to the Hollywood of yore. Now …. long gone in lobotomized “stars” and their diminished but still fawning minions.

Love him or loathe him, Trump doesn’t hold back and THAT was his Achilles heel when he was in the WH last. If only he can get out of his own way, he’d be fine. Just shut up already at the right time, 45, learn from your past mistakes.

Seriously one should pause to consider why the left so joyously takes pot shots at conservatives. It seems that once level headed conservatives have joined the bandwagon, that has gone off the rails since the likes of Trump has taken power. I for one can no longer call myself any type of conservative with a leader like Mr. Trump. Republicans once stood for good morals, patriotism and law and order, which no longer seems the case. If Mr. Trump is our beacon of light, it is time to pull the plug. A former, heartbroken conservative.
