Wyatt’s Take

  • Caitlin Clark turned heads at a Giants game before facing a team whose player recently threatened her on social media
  • The WNBA continues to look the other way while Clark gets targeted both on and off the court
  • America’s most exciting basketball star deserves better protection from a league that can’t handle her success

WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark is in the Bay Area and drawing crowds before even stepping onto the hardwood. On Wednesday afternoon, the Indiana Fever superstar took advantage of an off day to catch some MLB action at Oracle Park.

The picturesque views at McCovey Cove certainly made the baseball detour worth it. Clark and her boyfriend, former Iowa basketball player Connor McCaffery, were spotted sitting in the premium owners’ seats next to the San Francisco Giants’ dugout during their game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Naturally, the TV cameras found her immediately. Clark sported a silver-scripted “SF” Giants hat, soaking in the California sunshine before Thursday night’s battle.

To further showcase her WNBA star power, Clark’s appearance at Oracle only added more buzz to Thursday night’s highly anticipated matchup at Chase Center, where the Fever will face the Valkyries. The matchup will bear some serious tension following last Friday’s heated game.

Clark silenced critics by returning from a back injury to post 22 points and nine assists in an Indiana victory. But the real story came after the final buzzer.

After clashing with Clark during the game, a Valkyries player was caught on a hot mic complaining that officials were favoring the Fever star. That same player later drew criticism online after interacting with hostile posts about Clark, including one exchange where she appeared to laugh at a fan suggesting a physical threat against the Fever star.

WNBA fans have since called for disciplinary action from a league that critics say has repeatedly looked the other way when tensions involving Clark boil over. The silence from league headquarters has been deafening.

The Fever-Valkyries rematch tips off Thursday night. All eyes will be on whether the WNBA finally steps up to protect its brightest star.

Wyatt Matters

When you’re so good that jealous competitors resort to threats and the league refuses to protect you, something’s broken. Working Americans understand what it’s like to succeed despite the system working against you. Clark’s bringing eyes and dollars to a struggling league, and instead of gratitude, she gets cheap shots and silence from the suits. That’s not how you treat your meal ticket. That’s not how you treat excellence.

Caitlyn is awesome. Envy is the world’s oldest emotion. You can’t possibly hate those people enough.

I refuse to live with hatred in my heart! This world has lost its way! We are all feeling so helpless and vulnerable these days!
So why would it surprise me what the wnba is doing or not doing I should say! For the players that play in the league!
You know if you don’t like something change it……in the right way! Don’t act like the rest of the world! Where everyone is on the bandwagon from hell!
We use to interact with each other with dignity and wellness to agree to disagree! And we still made life worth living! Stop the bullying and the hateful behavior this world has shown and created!
I treat others as I want to be treated! Is this having to look around every corner to see if it’s safe! It’s time to stop the stupidity of what we have algae to live in the last decade!
We all have enough problems. But to go after someone because of their talents! Wow not that is low!
I was in 7 th grade when the title 9 was inactivated! Sports made since to me! It was so much work and so much more fun! Let’s all that a break and remember….you are playing a game! Not destroying someone’s life because she has talent! Wow how far we as a society have fallen! It’s really disappointing and disturbing!

Woke corporations and companies need to be aggressively prosecuted and sued for their reprehensible conduct that has no place in America they should be brought in one with normal human dignity and respect with accountability and consequences for errant behavior, which has no place in an enlightened society!!!!
