Wyatt’s Take

  • A Democrat running for Congress in Michigan made a video mocking conservative deaths.
  • The candidate fired back online when folks pushed back at her behavior.
  • There’s a hard-left push in Michigan’s Democrat race this year.

A Michigan Democrat aiming for Congress stirred up trouble by posting a TikTok video mocking the assassination of conservative Charlie Kirk. She compared his killing to comedian Jimmy Kimmel’s short suspension from ABC.

Shelby Campbell, the candidate, posted the video with what many described as dark humor and seemed to celebrate Kimmel’s return while taunting conservatives about Kirk’s death.

“Hey, MAGA. How bad does it hurt that Jimmy Kimmel is back, but you guys can’t get your person back?” Campbell said in the video, ending with a big, gleeful scream.

After facing criticism, Campbell wrote on X, “Yes it’s me it’s called dark humor lol.”

She also commented, “Let me know if you want to go live and have a conversation to see how mentally unstable I am. Have a good day.”

Campbell describes herself as a 31-year-old single mom, a former assembly line worker, and a third-generation union member. She pushes herself as a grassroots candidate for working families and says she stands against corporate interests.

Other Democrats running in the district are incumbent Shri Thanedar and hard-left State Rep. Donavan McKinney, who has support from some of the party’s most progressive names. Tlaib, known for her radical views, backs McKinney.

Campbell’s campaign did not reply to questions about her controversial video. The campaign website leans heavy on worker and union values, while her social media history includes shots at public figures and blunt comments on issues like Israel and domestic violence.

Michigan’s 13th has been a Democrat stronghold for years, but the tone in the primary is more extreme and divisive than usual.

Stay tuned and speak up—these kinds of political games show why Middle America has to stay engaged and demand candidates who respect working folks.

Wyatt Matters

Mocking a tragedy and turning politics into a circus doesn’t help working families or small-town Americans. Folks want leaders who focus on respect, hard work, and common-sense solutions—not out-of-touch stunts that tear us apart.
