Wyatt’s Take

  • House Democrats reached 218 signatures to force a vote on releasing Epstein files.
  • Some Republicans, like Lauren Boebert and Nancy Mace, backed the move.
  • The petition won’t directly release files but puts lawmakers’ stances on the record.

The House just swore in Arizona’s Adelita Grijalva. She wasted no time, signing a petition that gave Democrats the 218 supporters needed to press for a vote on making Jeffrey Epstein documents public. Some Republicans, including Colorado’s Lauren Boebert and South Carolina’s Nancy Mace, joined the effort.

“A discharge petition forces a bill or resolution to be brought directly to the House floor for consideration, even if it’s previously been held up in the committee process.”

Cosponsors include Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Ro Khanna of California, showing this isn’t just one party’s fight. Still, the petition won’t instantly release the files—a full vote is needed to decide if the public gets to see them, and every lawmaker’s position will be on record.

Action heated up after the House Oversight Committee put out 20,000 pages from Epstein’s estate. Hours earlier, Democrats released emails involving Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and author Michael Wolff—none directly involving President Trump. Trump hasn’t been accused of any crimes connected to these cases.
