Wyatt’s Take

  • Young Hollywood celebrity sparks controversy with disturbing comment about violence and revolution at French palace
  • Singer’s remarks reveal the entitled mindset of wealthy elites who romanticize historical bloodshed from their mansions
  • Another example of out-of-touch celebrities flaunting luxury while ordinary Americans struggle with inflation

Pop star Olivia Rodrigo raised eyebrows during a recent visit to France’s Palace of Versailles when she made a troubling comment about the French Revolution. The singer, known for her chart-topping hits, was touring the lavish 17th-century palace when she weighed in on the violent uprising that saw King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette executed by guillotine.

During her tour of the opulent residence, Rodrigo was asked what she thought about the palace. Her response shocked many who heard it.

“I saw this, I would be mad as hell too,” Rodrigo said, apparently sympathizing with the revolutionary mob that stormed Versailles and eventually led France into years of terror and mass executions.

The comment comes as another example of Hollywood’s disconnection from reality. Here’s a multi-millionaire celebrity enjoying a luxury vacation at one of the world’s most expensive tourist destinations, casually endorsing violent revolution while regular Americans can barely afford groceries.

The Palace of Versailles stands as a monument to excess, featuring 2,300 rooms, 1,944 windows, and sprawling gardens that required an army of workers to maintain. The stark inequality between French royalty and peasants eventually sparked the French Revolution in 1789, which descended into the Reign of Terror that saw tens of thousands guillotined, including many innocent people swept up in revolutionary fervor.

Rodrigo’s flippant remark about understanding the anger that led to mass violence reveals the casual way coastal elites view history and human suffering. It’s easy to romanticize revolution from the comfort of fame and fortune. It’s another thing entirely to live through the chaos, starvation, and bloodshed that actual revolutions bring.

The singer made the comments while being filmed for social media content, suggesting she was comfortable sharing these views publicly. No word yet on whether she sees any irony in living a life of luxury herself while expressing sympathy for violent uprisings against the wealthy.

This isn’t the first time young Hollywood stars have made tone-deaf political statements. The entertainment industry continues to lecture working Americans about inequality while living in gated communities and flying private jets.

Wyatt Matters

When celebrities start casually endorsing historical violence while living like royalty themselves, it shows just how out of touch the elite class has become. Regular folks working two jobs to make ends meet don’t have time for luxury vacations or revolutionary fantasies. They need leaders and voices who understand real struggles, not pampered stars playing revolutionary from their penthouses.

Probably it’s time for Olivia Rodrigo to spend time in one of the lesser affluent neighborhoods of Chicago or Los Angeles. A period of =her life should include no sanitary product during her menses to help her stay healthy. Maybe a trip to donate blood if she is healthy enough to do so might be a good thing for her.

Seems she has absolutely no idea about life and needs a time to live like so many are forced to do.
