Leaders from Arizona and Nevada came together Monday night at one of America’s greatest engineering triumphs for a powerful Memorial Day tribute. The gathering honored our fallen service members while launching the region’s official countdown to America’s 250th anniversary.
The Hoover Dam, standing tall on the border between the two states, served as the backdrop for this moment of national pride. State and local officials joined together in a rare show of bipartisan unity to celebrate what makes this country exceptional.
The installation features red, white, and blue illumination and a massive American flag measuring 300 feet wide by 150 feet tall suspended across the dam.

The ceremony marked the official kickoff of “Road to America250” celebrations across the region. As 2026 approaches, communities nationwide are preparing to mark the semiquarter millennium of American independence with renewed patriotism.
The massive flag display and patriotic lighting transformed the iconic dam into a beacon of American values. The tribute combined remembrance of those who gave everything for our freedoms with optimism about our nation’s future.
This Memorial Day observance reminded Americans that our greatest monuments weren’t built by government bureaucrats or woke committees. They were built by hard-working Americans who believed in something bigger than themselves.
Why It Matters
While coastal elites tear down statues and apologize for America, heartland communities are standing up to celebrate what makes this nation worth defending. The Hoover Dam represents American ingenuity, determination, and the can-do spirit that built the greatest country on Earth. As we approach our 250th birthday, ceremonies like this remind us why patriots fought, bled, and died—not for pronouns or participation trophies, but for freedom, opportunity, and the right to chart our own course.
