January 1, Suspect surrenders after claiming to have bomb near US Capitol
A man who claimed to have parked a pickup truck containing a bomb near the Capitol building was taken into custody.
Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger confirmed at a press conference on Thursday afternoon that the individual, identified as Floyd Roseberry of North Carolina, surrendered to authorities.
Footage appeared to show Roseberry exiting the truck and crawling on the ground following hours-long negotiations with police.
Manger said law enforcement used a whiteboard to communicate with Roseberry, writing “messages back and forth.”
The investigation is still ongoing.
