January 1, Chile’s Conservative President Stuns UN With Bold Defense of Traditional Values
Wyatt’s Take
- Chile’s new leader just told the UN that socialism failed and conservative policies are the future.
- President Kast called out his socialist predecessors and told investors Chile is open for business again.
- His message lines up with the growing pushback against left-wing ideas across Latin America.
Chilean President José Antonio Kast used his first-ever address as head of state to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday to condemn the socialist policies of his predecessors and promise would-be investors that a conservative Chile was worth betting on.
Standing before the world body, Kast laid out a clear vision rooted in economic freedom and strong national values.
His message comes as more countries in the region move away from failed socialist experiments.
The Chilean leader spoke with confidence about what he called the start of a new chapter for Latin America.
“Our Decade”
Wyatt Matters
Hardworking folks in the heartland know that strong borders, free markets, and traditional values are what keep a country standing. Chile’s new president is proving those principles work when leaders have the courage to stand by them.
