Wyatt’s Take

  • Political violence is on the rise, hitting home in America
  • Attacks aren’t just talk—real lives and freedom are targeted
  • Folks are warning this storm’s only just begun

A retired FBI agent says political violence is only just beginning as we head into 2026. Charlie Kirk’s killing in 2025—a so-called “political assassination”—was only one of many attacks raising major concerns about where this country’s heading.

Investigators report the suspect, Tyler Robinson, fired bullets engraved with “Hey fascist, catch.”

Folks are asking if all this political talk is crossing into real-world violence. Numbers from the Department of Homeland Security showed assaults on ICE officers jumping by more than 1,150% in 2025 compared to the previous year.

Late September saw gunfire at an ICE facility, leaving one detainee dead and two hurt. Police say the shooter, Joshua Jahn, was looking up ICE agents and even left a note: “Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror, to think, ‘is there a sniper with AP rounds on that roof?”

It isn’t just one side feeling the heat. There have been two recent assassination attempts against President Trump. July 2024 saw Thomas Crooks open fire at a rally in Pennsylvania, grazing Trump. Two months later, Ryan Routh was caught with a rifle near Trump’s Florida club.

Former FBI agent Jonathan Gilliam said the killing of Charlie Kirk fits a growing and dangerous trend. “I think there are signs that this type of violence is being normalized,” Gilliam said.

He brought up the killing of an insurance CEO, explaining, “a large part of the population was somewhat OK with that and have made him into somewhat of a hero.” Gilliam warned some people are starting to justify these violent acts, even if they don’t result in death.

“When they go out, and they commit acts of violence, but not killing, people start to ask the question, ‘is that justified?’ And then, when it gets more and more violent, there will be less people, but actually still a great vast majority of those people that have been convinced will agree and justify the violence,” Gilliam said.

Gilliam believes America hasn’t seen the worst yet. “I believe that political violence, as we know it now, has just started,” he said. He warned about dangerous attacks targeting Jewish groups, Christians, and those trying to hold honest dialogue. Instead of talk, folks are being met with violence meant to shut them up.
