In just a few weeks into his second term, folks think Trump’s really kept his promises about big stuff like immigration and fixing government waste. On TV, Margaret Brennan from CBS talked about this poll with Anthony Salvanto, who knows a lot about elections and surveys. He said that 70% of people think Trump’s doing what he said he would during the campaign. That’s pretty solid, whether they like him or not.

“Here’s the deal, Margaret. People see he’s doing what he promised. That’s big in politics. Most think he’s tough, energetic, and gets stuff done,” Salvanto explained. “People see a lot happening, and they feel he’s governing well.”

The survey asked over 2,000 Americans between Feb. 5-7. Lots described Trump as tough (69%), energetic (63%), focused (60%), and effective (58%). During these first weeks, 49% said Trump was doing more than they thought he would, 41% said it was about what they expected, and only 9% thought he was doing less.

Trump’s getting good marks for going after criminal illegal immigrants too. 59% support his actions on that front. But, some folks are worried about the economy, specifically prices. About 66% think the administration isn’t focusing enough on lowering costs of goods, while 31% think they’re doing okay, and just 3% say they’re doing too much about it.

People had different views on prices. Almost half (47%) said prices are going up, while 41% think they’re about the same. When asked about gas and egg prices, 33% said gas went up and 63% said egg prices increased. Others found prices stayed the same.

Trump also got good numbers for how he’s handling the Israel-Hamas situation. 54% approve of what he’s doing there. He had a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and talked about maybe the U.S. “taking over” the Gaza Strip to help Palestinians find peace. 47% didn’t think that was a great idea, but 40% were unsure, and 13% thought it might be good.

When quizzed on how much they knew about Trump’s ideas on this, only 28% said they read a lot on it. Most have read a little or not much at all.
