January 1, WWE Champion Faces Brutal Betrayal That Could Change Everything

Wyatt’s Take
- Saturday’s WWE Night of Champions in Riyadh sets up summer’s biggest showdowns with three title defenses and tournament finals that determine who gets championship shots at SummerSlam
- Cody Rhodes defending against two hungry challengers in a triple threat he personally demanded—while The Bloodline’s Jey Uso aims to become King of the Ring despite interference threats
- Steel cage warfare and women’s division battles promise the kind of hard-nosed competition American wrestling fans deserve without Hollywood nonsense
WWE Night of Champions on Saturday delivers what hardworking fans want—real competition with real stakes. The King and Queen of the Ring tournaments conclude, three championships hang in the balance, and bitter rivalries reach boiling points.
Winners of the King and Queen tournaments earn title shots of their choosing at SummerSlam in August. That’s opportunity worth fighting for.
King of the Ring Final: Jey Uso vs. Oba Femi
Jey Uso, backed by The Bloodline, has dominated his path through the tournament. One more win separates him from another championship opportunity. Standing in his way is Oba Femi, “The Ruler,” who’s been on a mission since Brock Lesnar handed him a loss at Clash in Italy.
That defeat still burns in Femi’s mind. He wants redemption.
Prediction: Jey Uso wins the match. Brock Lesnar interferes and takes out Oba Femi.
Queen of the Ring Final: Liv Morgan vs. Iyo Sky
Liv Morgan enters the final with two bold promises—becoming a double champion and proving Iyo Sky has never beaten her one-on-one. Morgan rode The Judgment Day’s support all the way to the finals.
Sky fought alone to reach this moment. The winner earns a shot at Rhea Ripley’s title, meaning Sky could challenge either Morgan or Ripley if she claims the crown.
Prediction: Iyo Sky becomes the Queen of the Ring.
United States Championship: Trick Williams vs. Ricky Saints
Trick Williams has been unstoppable since capturing the United States Championship from Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 42. His SmackDown debut turned into a championship reign that’s proven his dominance week after week.
Ricky Saints earned his shot by defeating Carmelo Hayes, and he’s been a constant irritant to the champion heading into Night of Champions. Williams showed his grit on the last SmackDown before Saturday’s showdown.
Prediction: Trick Williams retains the U.S. title.
Women’s United States Championship: Tiffany Stratton vs. Jade Cargill
The bitter rivalry between champion Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill reaches its breaking point. Stratton aligned with Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss to counter Cargill’s team of Michin and B-Fab.
Outside interference seems inevitable, but if Stratton keeps her focus when chaos erupts, she walks out of Riyadh still holding gold.
Prediction: Tiffany Stratton retains the women’s U.S. title.
Steel Cage Match: Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker
This feud refuses to die. Even after Seth Rollins defeated Bron Breakker at Backlash, the war continued.
Breakker returned at WrestleMania 42 to cost Rollins his match against Gunther, reigniting the hatred between them. Now they settle it inside a steel cage where escape is the only way out.
Expect brutality. The animosity is real.
Prediction: Bron Breakker gets one back from Seth Rollins.
Wild card: Bronson Reed returns.
Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther vs. Sami Zayn
This is the match everyone’s waiting for. Cody Rhodes personally requested this triple threat after growing tired of the games between Gunther and Sami Zayn.
Rhodes told SmackDown GM Nick Aldis he wanted both challengers in his rearview mirror. That decision could prove costly—Gunther seeks to reclaim his spot at the top while Zayn hunts his first world championship.
Rhodes booked the fight. Now he has to survive it.
Prediction: Cody Rhodes retains the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Wyatt Matters
Real competition with real consequences—that’s what American fans deserve from their entertainment. Night of Champions delivers exactly that without apology. Championships mean something when warriors defend them against legitimate threats, and tournament winners earn their opportunities through hard work. This is the kind of straightforward, merit-based competition that built this country. No participation trophies, no excuses—just winners and losers determined inside the ring where it counts.
