January 1, Trump’s Stance on DHS Funding Sparks Chaos in Airport Security Lines

Wyatt’s Take

  • Trump is refusing a funding deal that leaves ICE out in the cold.
  • Senate Republicans are under pressure to hold the line on DHS funding.
  • Travelers and TSA agents are feeling the strain as shutdown fights drag on.

President Trump is holding the line against Senate swamp dwellers who want to fund the government while leaving our border wide open. He rightly rejected a pitch from Senate Majority Leader John Thune that would have funded other agencies while leaving ICE out in the cold.

The establishment wants to play games with reconciliation bills, but the President knows that is a trap. He is making it clear that the Radical Left must vote with Republicans if they want to see the government reopen.

“I don’t think we should make any deal with the Crazy, Country Destroying, Radical Left Democrats unless, and until, they Vote with Republicans to pass ‘THE SAVE AMERICA ACT,’”

Trump said.

Democrats have spent weeks dragging their feet and moving the goalposts while TSA agents and travelers feel the squeeze. Instead of negotiating in good faith, they skipped meetings and tried to force a vote that only funded specific agencies they like.

The White House has already sent ICE agents to major airports to help with security lines during the shutdown. While Chuck Schumer complains about ICE being at airports, the President is focusing on keeping the country safe and moving.

Wyatt Matters

Middle Americans expect their leaders to prioritize border security over bureaucratic games. Standing firm on ICE funding shows that the days of the GOP folding to Democrat demands are over.

My understanding was that DHS was funded through the Big Beautiful Bill! What is the problem?

“(TSA) is not mentioned as receiving funding through H.R. 1, the “Big Beautiful Bill.” The $170.7 billion in new funding allocated by the bill is exclusively directed toward immigration and border enforcement activities.”

Neither are some other agencies under the DHS umbrella. For example customs and border protection air and marine branch (basically the aviation maintenance section) was not funded and people like my husband are not getting paid but still are expected to go to work. But of course the media, Trump and Congress are focused on optics and things like airports at spring break time. I agree, TSA should get paid, but so should all the other working American government employees that are currently working without pay and mo end in sight. And also without ANYONE seemingly knowing they aren’t getting paid and no mention of them in the news. It’s not JUST the TSA. My husband has gone without 3 paychecks so far (well, technically 2 1/2 since it started mid-pay period). As a family of six with one income, that makes things very, very uncertain and scary for the first time ever. I am thankful for our credit union though as they offer a payday loan, so currently our bills are still up to date. But if they stop offering that, things will get tight around our home

It matters because their is no guarantee of whom will be in charge in 2028. The funding is approved ahead of time. Not only that, the democrats get to control what they wanted instead of what the voters want. Closed borders and illegals gone!
