January 1, Trump Pays Six-Figure Fine
New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office has confirmed that former President Donald Trump has paid a $110,000 fine as part of an agreement to purge a contempt order.
New York state Judge Arthur Engoron had suspended his contempt order against Trump if the former president fulfilled three conditions by May 20. James’ office said Trump fulfilled two out of three as of Friday, May 20.
The conditions outlined by Engoron’s order were for Trump to pay his six-figure civil contempt fee, for the Trump Organization to provide its policy on document retention and destruction, and review documents to ensure that all files relevant to James’ investigation had been submitted to her office.
James’ office confirmed that Trump paid the $110,000 fine and reviewed and produced additional documents but did not provide a description of the company’s requested policies.
