President Trump announced he will give Rudy Giuliani the nation’s highest civilian honor after Giuliani was badly hurt in a car crash over the weekend.

“As President of the United States of America, I am pleased to announce that Rudy Giuliani, the greatest Mayor in the history of New York City, and an equally great American Patriot, will receive THE PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM, our Country’s highest civilian honor,” Trump shared on Truth Social.

Giuliani, age 81, served as Trump’s personal attorney and is known for leading New York City through tough times. After the Saturday accident in New Hampshire, he remains in the hospital, recovering from a fractured bone in his back, cuts, and injuries to his arm and leg.

His security chief Michael Ragusa said Giuliani is “in good spirits and recovering tremendously.” He will stay hospitalized for several days until he is strong enough to return home.

Details about the medal ceremony will come later, Trump said.
