Wyatt’s Take

  • Chinese authorities are pressuring underground Catholics to join state-controlled churches.
  • Reports say religious leaders and believers face surveillance, harassment, and other intimidation tactics.
  • The controversial 2018 Vatican-China deal still gives Beijing influence over bishop appointments.

The Communist Party under Xi Jinping is being accused of forcing religion to serve the state. Critics say the campaign is aimed at replacing faithful worship with political loyalty.

“Xi Jinping’s Sinicization campaign and nearly eight years since the 2018 Holy See-China agreement, Catholics in China face escalating repression that violates their religious freedoms,” researcher Yalkun Uluyol stated.

Beijing denies the allegations and says it is only enforcing its religious laws. Chinese officials routinely reject reports of abuse as attacks on their reputation.

Church buildings have reportedly been torn down, while unregistered gatherings are blocked by police. The government officially recognizes only five religions and keeps them under tight control.

“It’s a very difficult situation,” Pope Leo XIV noted regarding the ongoing dialogue with the Chinese government. The Vatican continues to honor the controversial 2018 agreement during these tense times.

Middle Americans know religious liberty is essential to a free nation. When government tries to put politics above God, freedom is always the first casualty.

God is not on pope leo’s side. The pope like other blunderers either need to read the real Bible or learn military strategy.
In the meantime Leo just pray in silence!!!

I’m very disappointed in the new pope Leo I had hopes he would be better and do more in the Bible teaching instead he has disgraced himself bowing down to China

If President Trump were pushing to have a say in the administration of the Catholic Church in the USA, Pope Leo would be all over him for it—and rightly so. Yet, when a Real Dictator stands up to Pope Leo, he cowers in silence. John Paul II would not have submitted to such humiliation, but then neither Francis nor the current Pope are strong like him. And they aren’t even wise in the ways of the world like a Medici pope.

The Pope has plenty to say about things that are not within his purview…things like America’s foreign relations policies and specifically our recognition that Iran absolutely cannot be allowed to have nuclear weapons. But, when China’s government is attacking Catholics, something that the Pope should be all over like white on rice, it’s “a very difficult situation”. There you go, run your mouth, but do nothing substantive. Luckily China isn’t trying to drop nuclear bombs on these Catholic gatherings.
