January 1, Shocking Synagogue Shooting in Michigan Ends Without Other Injuries

A suspected shooter rammed his vehicle into Temple Israel Synagogue in West Bloomfield, Michigan. He carried a rifle and sparked a shootout with armed guards.

The attacker died in the firefight, his body badly burned as the car ignited. No other injuries reported.

Security spotted the gunman and engaged right away. The synagogue had prepped for threats over the past two weeks.

I’m told by law enforcement source that the suspected shooter at the Michigan synagogue was armed with a rifle, rammed a vehicle into the building and was killed in shootout w/ armed security. I’m told vehicle caught on fire and the suspect’s body is burned. No ID yet.

69% of ALL religious motivated hate crimes target Jews.

Oakland County Sheriff says no active threat remains. FBI responded to the vehicle ramming and shooter incident.

The K-12 school there was closed, no events until afternoon. Largest reform synagogue with 12,000 members went into lockdown along with other Jewish groups.
