Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was stopped from entering the Village of Broadview Municipal Building in Illinois while traveling with her team.

The situation flared as video showed Noem and her staff denied even a quick restroom break, despite the facility receiving over $1 million in federal funds yearly.

The standoff came after protests outside a nearby ICE facility, where officers used gas masks. Noem’s actions and presence have drawn fire from Governor JB Pritzker, who demanded accountability for federal enforcement in his state.

Video footage captured the moment her team was turned away at the door while seeking to use the police station restroom. A village worker refused, and a voice was heard saying, “No, you cannot.”

Noem criticized Illinois officials, calling it “absolutely shameful” treatment of law enforcement and pointed out the contradiction between their claims of cooperation and their actions.

She said, “As much as these local leaders and governors talk about cooperating and having the backs of our law enforcement officers, this is what we have to put up with every single day. And all we’re doing is getting criminals and terrorists and cartels and gang members off the streets to make families safer here. It’s ridiculous.”
