January 1, Kremlin Reacts to Sanctions Against Putin’s Daughters
The Kremlin reacted to the new sanctions imposed by the U.S. and European Union targeting the daughters of Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying the move is “difficult to understand.”
Putin’s daughters, Maria Vorontsova and Katerina Tikhonova, and other family members of prominent Russians were included in the latest set of penalties.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov addressed the sanctions at a press conference, saying the action was “difficult to understand and explain.”
“Of course, we consider these sanctions in themselves to be the extension of an absolutely rabid position on the imposition of restrictions,” Peskov said.
“In any case, the ongoing line on imposing restrictions against family members speaks for itself.”
