January 1, Chris Christie Warns Trump Re-Election a National Security Risk
Former Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” and expressed his concerns about former President Donald Trump being elected again, stating that it posed “a national security risk.”
Anchor Kristen Welker brought up recent comments made by Trump at a rally, where he recounted a conversation with a NATO leader about paying their fair share in the face of threats by Vladimir Putin. Trump said, “One of the presidents of a big country stood up and said, sir, if we don’t pay and we’re attacked by Russia, will you protect us? I said you didn’t pay, you’re delinquent? He said yes. Say that happened, no, I would not protect you. In fact, I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. You have to pay. You have to pay your bills.”
When asked about his thoughts on Trump’s comments, Christie responded, “This is why I’ve been saying for a long time that he’s unfit to be president of the United States. It’s one thing, and I think it’s right for a president to say to a NATO member, hey, you have to pay the dues you need to pay. I think the American people would expect that of a president, but the problem with Donald Trump is he can’t just stop there.”
Christie continued, “He’s got to say I would encourage Russia to do whatever the hell they wanted to you. That is absolutely inappropriate for a president of the United States or a candidate for president of the United States to be saying, but it is consistent with his love for dictators.”
Welker asked if making such a comment posed a national security risk, to which Christie replied, “What poses a national security risk is the possibility that he could be president of the United States again. That’s what poses a national security risk because we need to take him at his word, Kristen.”
Christie went on to say, “And the fact is that as I’ve said earlier, Donald Trump when he came into office in 2016 was scared. He was afraid to be president. He was afraid of mistakes he would make. He knew he was not ready and so as a result he listened to a lot of very good people around him, General Mattis, General Kelly and others about these issues. In a second term, he would not.”
Why It Matters (op-ed)
The mainstream media and political elites, like Chris Christie, are once again pushing their baseless narrative that Trump poses a “national security risk.” Let’s not forget, it was Trump who pushed NATO countries to pay their fair share, strengthening the alliance.
Christie’s criticism is nothing more than an attempt to discredit Trump’s America First agenda and pander to the left. He conveniently ignores Trump’s successes in foreign policy, such as brokering historic peace deals in the Middle East.
Trump supporters must continue to fight against this dishonest narrative and remind the country of the former president’s accomplishments.

No body take Chris Christy seriously. He’s just a disgruntled former Trump supporter who didn’t get a cushy job in the Trump Administration because Trump knew he was a POS.

Christy wouldn’t recognize a Republican if he was slapped by one. Sure he says he is a Republican but he has never once acted like one or voted like one. He flat out Sucked as NJ Governor and all his vacations and hobnobbing with Democrats proves this. He is more at home at a Buffet than working to bring people together. I just wish the Media would quit going after this lousy excuse for a caring human being. His name should be forever changed to Beached Whale or the NJ RINO. Don’t go away mad Christy just GO AWAY

I agree he should make the rest of the NATO countries pay their fair share – HOWEVER, comments like “we will not protect” a country that was attacked by Russia is a show of his MASSIVE EGO and a problem – that is unacceptable – If it comes to him vs the idiot I will 100% vote for him however, I would really like for him to keep his ego and comments like that under control

Chris Christy doesn’t have a clue about National Security. He was a bureaucrat in the DOJ before being a disgraced Governor. His claim to fame is a caustic personality and mouth. President Trump quickly saw Christy was not what his administration needed. The result is Christy has been bad mouthing Trump ever since.

Chris Christie should join the left-wing Democrat Party. Thank God that Americans quickly rebuked his candidacy for President. Of course, the left-wing media will still acknowledge his existence and offer him the opportunity to criticize.

Christie isand always has been a joke he never has acted as a Republican since he has been on the national stage. And he lost all respect when he ran for president and Trump trounced him then refused to give him an appointment. So now as the hurt little bitch he continues to do everything he can to get back at Trump and doesn’t care if it hurts the country! And the leftist press can’t get enough of of him and his vitriol. But, the lack of viewers that the leftist media has and the fact that both sides despise Christie this is just more propaganda that goes no where!

Christ is still aggravated because he didn’t get the Attorney General job when Trump was President. The only way he can stay relevant is damning Trump. I used to think he was a strong leader, but when you go as low as he has, I see that I was wrong. I guess next he will start a conversation on Trump that he is against fat people.

How can anything be worse than a corrupt and compromised president that the entire Democrat machine ignores. . . . And, they accuse Trump as being the devil they are.

This “former” governor is a sad excuse for a “leader”. No one wants him for president. Suck it up, go home, and be quiet. Obviously his opinions are not important to most people. Find a hole and crawl in (if you can find one big enough…)

Chris, Why don’t you let go of your anger??? You’d be better off loosing weight and taking care of your health. Your family deserves that!!! Do you know holding anger eats at your body like a cancer. Don’t you want to watch all that your children do or would you rather be 6 feet under? Are you that happy with the liberals? If so become a democrat. You know their mascot is a jack-ass and they follow suit and that’s not only my opinion. Most of them don’t even know what’s going on and that’s because of the liberal media. I just learned Soros bought quite a few of radio stations. Why don’t you pick up a cause and do something to change things for the better instead of trying to cause problems?

I am not a fan of Christie, and I believe that his discernment skills need improvement, particularly about Trump…
.
I do not deny that Trump’s first term could have had its “learning-on-the-job” moments (especially since Trump was not a career politician)…but I do have difficulty thinking that Trump was “scared” during that process… maybe uncertainty, but unlikely “scared”…I think Trump’s learning experience during his first term could help in a second term…
.
As for Trump’s response to the Russian attack on the non-paying country, I believe that it is possible that the “they” could have been in reference to the non-paying country, not (referring) to Russia…but even if the “they” did refer to Russia, then I do not believe that Trump was actually encouraging Russian free-reign aggression (nor its harmful effects) in a real sense – and instead may have been referring to the Russian free-reign aggression (and harmful effects) that could RESULT from the non-payment by the country being attacked…if so, then Trump’s choice of words to convey that point should have been better (and any callousness on Trump’s part to that country’s plight was inappropriate)…
.
Despite Trump being an “outsider”, I believe his first term was quite successful…nevertheless, my support of Trump is a “weighted” support…that is, while I am not happy with Trump’s less-than-congenial responses (including Tweets) and “rough-around-the-edges” moments, he still loves this country, he desires to help others, and his policies are/were positive and effective…under Trump’s first term, the country was doing well, and Trump had a positive influence on the global stage…Christie – and the Left – keep insisting that a Trump presidency would have negative (even dangerous) effects…but Trump – despite (what I view as) his shortcomings – already proved that he would be a great President during his first term…
