Wyatt’s Take

  • The Commission of Fine Arts advanced a 250-foot Triumphal Arch for the nation’s 250th anniversary.
  • The monument would stand near the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery, with a public observation deck.
  • Supporters say the project reflects American pride, while critics are objecting to the scale and cost.

This massive structure will stand twice as tall as the Lincoln Memorial and feature a 60-foot Lady Liberty plated in 24-carat gold.

While the usual suspects complain about the cost and the scale, this project is exactly what the heartland needs to see in a capital city that has forgotten how to be proud.

The arch will be located on a Potomac River island between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.

Completion is scheduled for July 2028 and will include an observation deck for the public to view the capital.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum stated the arch reflects the strength and history of the American people.

“Great nations build beautiful structures and works of art that cultivate national pride and love of country,” Burgum said.

“In this tradition, the United States Triumphal Arch will be a project of which all Americans will be proud.”

President Trump has already promised that the monument will be the greatest of its kind in the world.

He noted that while Paris has the history, America is about to build something the likes of which has never been seen before.

“The one that people know mostly is the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France, and, we’re gonna top it by, I think, a lot,” Trump remarked.

“We’re gonna have something the likes of which has never been done before.”

Construction is expected to begin this year despite a few lawsuits from critics who claim the massive arch is too flashy for the area.

The project costs roughly $15 million and will display phrases from the Pledge of Allegiance in large gold letters.

Wyatt Matters

Middle America understands that a nation without monuments to its own success is a nation in decline. This arch represents a return to bold, unapologetic patriotism that puts the American dream front and center for everyone to see.
