Folks, it seems our very own tech industry giants have turned their backs on the American workforce. Surprised?

Amid mass layoffs of our hardworking compatriots, these companies persist in hiring foreign workers under the H-1B visa program. You might know this as the so-called “outsourcing visa” – a moniker it has sadly earned over the years.

The casualties are staggering. In the past few months, Google has let go of around 12,000 American workers, Microsoft has dropped 10,000, close to 20,000 folks have been shown the door at Amazon, and Meta Platforms – the corporation holding sway over Facebook and Instagram – has cut ties with 10,000 American employees. What’s worse, these layoffs were followed closely by these very corporations filing visa applications for foreign labor.

The chief executive of Google, Sundar Pichai, had the audacity to pen a solemn letter announcing the company’s decision to lay off 12,000 employees, only to turn around and file applications for low-paid foreign workers a mere month later. A solemn letter indeed!

Investigative reporter Lee Fang’s report uncovers the astonishing reality. These companies, which have let go of American employees in the thousands, have now turned to overseas talent. A tactic that disregards the people whose sweat and perseverance have built these companies from the ground up.

This is not merely a slap in the face of hardworking Americans but an insidious tactic of undermining our economy and social fabric. It’s a clear picture of what happens when corporations prioritize profit over people – over our fellow Americans.

We all know the H-1B visa program was designed to supplement American skill sets, not replace them. The troubling reality is that companies are exploiting the program to cut costs at the expense of American jobs. The Economic Policy Institute’s researchers, Daniel Costa and Ron Hira, put it bluntly: instead of turning to H-1B workers as a last resort, many employers hire these foreign workers because they can be underpaid.

But folks, let’s remember the America we know and love – an America that stands up for its citizens, for the people who grind day in and day out to make ends meet, for those who dream of better futures for their children. It’s time for the American people to have a say in the matter, and for our leaders to step up and protect American jobs.

Government officials like Gov. Ron DeSantis and Rep. Jim Banks are speaking out against the favoritism towards multinational corporations and advocating for American professionals. They are the voices we need to hear, and the message we need to echo.

Our corporations owe us more than just a paycheck – they owe us loyalty, respect, and an assurance that the American Dream is not just an elusive illusion but a tangible reality. As for us, it’s our duty to stand up for our own, for the American worker. It’s time we let these companies know: enough is enough.
