A Massachusetts school teacher fired for opposing critical race theory in several TikTok videos has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against her former employers.

Kari MacRae filed a suit against Hanover Public Schools superintendent Matthew Ferron and Hanover High School principal Matthew Mattos for firing her over TikTok videos that she made opposing critical race theory.

The nonprofit legal organization Judicial Watch is representing MacRae in her lawsuit.

According to the filing, Hanover High School hired MacRae as a math and business teacher on August 31 and fired her on September 29. However, the suit claims MacRae had posted videos that the school cited months before she was hired.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified punitive damages, claiming MacRae’s former employers deprived her of “her rights under the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.”
