January 1, Feds Raid Ilhan Omar Home as Probe Heats Up

Wyatt’s Take
- Trump officials are finally getting serious about immigration enforcement, even when it means going after sitting members of Congress.
- The nickname “World War Eleven” shows how little respect the administration has for Omar’s credibility after her embarrassing slip-up.
- Working families in Middle America want accountability, not special treatment for politicians who break the rules.
Federal agents searched Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Washington, D.C. home early Monday morning as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into her immigration paperwork. The probe has reportedly been nicknamed “World War Eleven” inside the Trump administration, a jab at Omar’s past gaffe referring to World War II as “World War Eleven.”
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the search was carried out under a judicially authorized warrant. Officials have not disclosed the full scope of the investigation but have said it centers on documents filed when Omar entered the country as a child refugee from Somalia.
“Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice,” the department stated. “This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.”
Omar quickly fired back at the administration, accusing it of political targeting. She claimed the search was part of a decade-long campaign of “baseless lies and smear campaigns” by Trump.
“Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement,” Omar wrote. “For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation.”
“I will not be silenced,” she added.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin and border czar Tom Homan have both confirmed an active criminal investigation into Omar’s immigration history. The case has drawn renewed attention after years of allegations that Omar’s family may have submitted false paperwork to gain refugee status and later citizenship.
Omar became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2000 and has denied any wrongdoing. Supporters say the investigation is politically motivated, while critics argue that no one, including members of Congress, should be above scrutiny when it comes to immigration violations.
Wyatt Matters
Middle America still believes the law should apply equally, whether you’re a factory worker in Ohio or a member of Congress from Minnesota. Real accountability starts when the rules are enforced without fear or favor.
