Tucker Carlson Reveals His Son Was in the Capitol on Jan. 6
Fox News host Tucker Carlson revealed that one of his children was in the U.S. Capitol during the January 6 riot.
In an interview for The Fourth Watch Podcast, host Steve Krakauer asked Carlson about his controversial Patriot Purge documentary series, which attempts to provide an alternative narrative to the events around January 6.
“What is it about the focus on January 6 … that made you say, ‘We need to give a different look at this?’” Krakauer asked Carlson.
“Well, I hated what happened on January 6, you know one of my kids was actually in the building when it had happened — I was on the phone in real time,” Carlson said.
Though the Tucker Carlson Tonight host didn’t specify which of his children was in the Capitol, multiple reports have speculated that he was referencing his son Buckley who works for Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN).
Carlson acknowledged that wrongdoing occurred but said the media largely exaggerates the day’s damage.
“People got all wound up, I get it. Some of them misbehaved, I am not gonna defend that, but it has been used like so many events throughout history as a pretext for something else,” he said.
“So they lie about what actually happened, they repeat the lie with maximum aggression, and over time, that lie solidifies into the common understanding of what happened.”
