President Trump met with Ukraine’s Zelensky at the 80th U.N. General Assembly as Russian drones and jets reportedly broke into NATO airspace. Both leaders discussed peace efforts and displayed respect despite past tensions.

Trump said, “He’s a brave man, and he’s putting up one hell of a fight. And we’ll see how that all turns out.” He also described Ukraine’s resistance as “pretty amazing” and underlined the importance of the meeting.

Recently, Denmark and Norway closed main airports after drone sightings. Poland, Romania, and Estonia also detected Russian activity in their skies, though Moscow denies any role. This uptick follows a recent Trump sit-down with Russia’s Putin. Attacks on Ukraine resumed shortly after those talks.

Trump argued NATO countries should defend their airspace, but said America’s actions would depend on the situation. Regarding Ukraine’s land, he declared, “Let them get their land back.” When asked about trust in Putin, Trump said he’d provide an update “about a month from now.” NATO issued a strong statement, vowing to defend every member and uphold its treaty commitments.
