January 1, Anti-Gun Group Caught Using FLAWED Data to Target Law-Abiding Dealer

Wyatt’s Take

  • Gun-control activists are weaponizing incomplete federal trace data to smear a legal California firearms dealer, despite law enforcement warnings that the numbers don’t tell the whole story.
  • The Brady United campaign targets a legitimate business using the same misleading statistics that ATF officials have repeatedly said cannot prove illegal activity.
  • This is just another example of the left’s war on the Second Amendment—when they can’t ban guns outright, they go after the businesses that sell them legally.

A gun-control organization is launching a coordinated attack on a major firearms dealer in California, demanding a probe based on federal firearms trace data that law enforcement has repeatedly warned does not provide a complete or accurate picture of illegal gun activity. On June 4, Brady United sent a letter to Los Angeles authorities calling for an investigation into the dealer, relying on Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) trace statistics to make their case.

The problem? The ATF itself has cautioned against using trace data the way Brady United is using it.

Firearms trace data tracks guns recovered at crime scenes back to their original point of sale. But federal officials have made clear that a trace does not mean a gun was used in a crime, nor does it indicate the dealer did anything wrong. Guns can be traced for many reasons—including administrative checks, found property, or weapons recovered years after a legal sale.

Yet Brady United is ignoring those warnings and pushing a narrative designed to shut down legal gun sales. The anti-gun group claims the California dealer’s trace numbers are evidence of wrongdoing, even though the business operates under strict federal and state regulations and has passed repeated compliance inspections.

This isn’t about public safety. It’s about using flawed data to demonize law-abiding businesses and chip away at Americans’ Second Amendment rights.

The dealer in question has not been charged with any crime. There’s no evidence of illegal sales. No violations have been proven. But that doesn’t matter to groups like Brady United, which have made it their mission to strangle the firearms industry through lawsuits, regulations, and public pressure campaigns.

The left knows they can’t repeal the Second Amendment outright, so they’re trying to eliminate it piece by piece—attacking gun manufacturers, suing dealers, and now using misleading federal data to paint legal businesses as criminal enterprises. It’s a coordinated effort to make it harder for Americans to exercise their constitutional rights, all while ignoring the real sources of crime in cities like Los Angeles.

What Brady United won’t tell you is that trace data is heavily influenced by geography and volume. Dealers in high-population areas or states with strict gun laws naturally show up more in trace reports simply because they sell more guns and are located near jurisdictions that recover more firearms. That doesn’t mean they’re doing anything illegal—it means they’re operating in a market where law-abiding citizens are trying to protect themselves in increasingly dangerous cities.

California already has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation. Background checks, waiting periods, approved handgun rosters, magazine limits—you name it, California has it. And still, criminals get guns. That’s because criminals don’t follow the law. They don’t buy from licensed dealers. They steal, they traffick, they acquire firearms through straw purchases that are already illegal.

But instead of going after the criminals, Brady United goes after the businesses that follow every rule. It’s easier to bully a law-abiding dealer than to confront the reality that gun control doesn’t stop crime.

Wyatt Matters

This is what the gun-control crowd does when facts don’t support their agenda—they twist the numbers and attack honest Americans trying to make a living. The Second Amendment isn’t just about owning guns; it’s about the infrastructure that supports that right. When activists use junk data to destroy legal businesses, they’re attacking your freedom. And if they can do it in California today, they’ll try it in your state tomorrow.

Listen up America, this is how communist take over countries. They take away the ability to defend ourselves and take away our religion. If you are ignorant enough to believe communism is a good thing, go live in a communist country!

Lawsuit time. Sue these anti 2A groups into oblivion. Also go after the anti 2A politicians. Support capital punishment for convicted killers and vote against politicians and judges who coddle criminals. If someone has to use a firearm to commit a crime and kill someone, that someone can have a seat in the electric chair.
