January 1, Woke AI Activists Demand Tech Giants Make Chatbots More ‘LGBTQ’

Wyatt’s Take

  • Far-left advocacy group GLAAD now wants to police artificial intelligence to push their agenda into chatbots and digital assistants
  • They’re demanding tech companies build ‘LGBTQ inclusion’ into AI systems — as if computers need gender ideology training
  • This is the latest front in the culture war, with activists trying to make sure even robots parrot their talking points

A prominent gay rights organization is now taking aim at artificial intelligence, arguing that chatbots and AI assistants aren’t promoting their social agenda strongly enough.

GLAAD, the media monitoring group that has spent decades pressuring Hollywood and news outlets to embrace progressive viewpoints on sexuality and gender, has turned its attention to the rapidly growing field of artificial intelligence. The group released a report claiming that AI systems need to be redesigned to better serve what they call “LGBTQ communities.”

According to the organization, current AI technology doesn’t sufficiently promote their preferred narratives around gender identity and sexual orientation. They want Silicon Valley to essentially program ideological biases directly into the algorithms that power everything from customer service bots to search engines.

The report specifically calls for tech companies to ensure AI systems actively advance LGBTQ messaging rather than simply providing neutral, factual responses. In their view, even computer programs need to be enlisted as advocates for their cause.

“The gays, transgenders, and all other minorities,” the report references, should be centered in how AI systems are developed and deployed, according to GLAAD’s framework.

This represents the latest expansion of what critics call “woke capitalism” — the phenomenon where activist groups pressure corporations to adopt and promote progressive social positions. What began with diversity training and workplace policies has now extended to the very code that powers emerging technologies.

The push raises questions about whether artificial intelligence should be designed to promote any particular social or political viewpoint, or whether it should aim for objectivity and neutrality. Critics argue that building ideological preferences into AI systems undermines their utility and turns them into propaganda tools.

Tech companies have increasingly faced pressure from activist groups to align their products and services with progressive causes. Many have complied, implementing various diversity initiatives and content moderation policies that favor left-leaning perspectives.

GLAAD’s move into the AI space suggests these pressure campaigns will only intensify as new technologies emerge. The group clearly sees artificial intelligence as the next battleground in the ongoing culture war over American values and institutions.

For everyday Americans who simply want technology that works without political lectures, the prospect of ideologically programmed AI assistants is likely to be unwelcome. Many people are already exhausted by constant political messaging in entertainment, advertising, and corporate communications.

The question now is whether tech companies will cave to these demands or whether they’ll prioritize building AI systems that serve users’ practical needs without injecting social activism into every interaction.

Why It Matters

Working families don’t need their computers preaching at them. We’re dealing with real problems — inflation, border chaos, unsafe streets — and the last thing anyone needs is a chatbot lecturing them about pronouns. This is about control: if they can dictate what AI says, they control what information you get. That’s not progress. That’s propaganda dressed up in tech company buzzwords, and Middle America sees right through it.
