ICE officers trying to make an arrest in Minneapolis faced a hostile crowd.

According to authorities, a woman tried to run over officers with her vehicle, leading to her being shot and killed.

The Department of Homeland Security called the act “domestic terrorism” and described the officer’s response as self-defense.

“An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers,” the agency said.

The woman was killed at the scene and hurt officers are expected to recover.

Video shows officers using tear gas on the crowd, pushing protesters away as some tried to block a truck.

Officers shouted for the crowd to move, while protesters yelled back.

The city warned people to avoid the area while emergency crews treated those affected by tear gas.

Officials said the woman shot was 37 years old and died at the hospital from her injuries.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said:

“The incident was a direct consequence of constant attacks and demonization of our officers by sanctuary politicians who fuel and encourage rampant assaults on our law enforcement who are facing 1,300% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats.”

Mayor Jacob Frey blamed ICE for unrest and claimed their presence brought chaos, saying their goal is not safety.

He denied self-defense claims and told ICE to leave the city.

Now, FBI and state investigators are leading the investigation.
