The Democrat Party faces a crisis heading into November’s midterms: they’ve completely surrendered to the radical left on an issue that’s political poison with voters. Despite overwhelming public opposition, party elites continue pushing transgender policies that even their own voters reject.

The Democratic Socialists of America have seized control of the party’s position on biological males competing in women’s sports. Their strong opposition to common-sense legislation has become the official Democrat stance, and it’s destroying the party’s electoral prospects.

This isn’t a new problem — Democrats have been trending this direction for years. But it’s getting worse, and fast.

Campaign season is already proving the issue’s toxicity. In Florida, Republican Byron Donalds is hammering Democrat David Jolly over transgender policies, including gender procedures for children.

In Massachusetts, Rep. Seth Moulton got forced to grovel and walk back perfectly reasonable comments he made just two years ago.

“I have two little girls, I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete,” Moulton said back then.

At a recent debate against incumbent Sen. Ed Markey, Moulton apologized to the trans community for any pain caused. He’s now more worried about far-left primary voters than his own daughters’ safety on the playing field.

Both cases prove Democrats face crushing pressure from radical activists — and they’re too weak to resist, even when the American people overwhelmingly disagree.

Post-election analysis shows this issue played a decisive role in 2024. The DNC’s own autopsy report admitted Kamala Harris had no answer to Republican advertising on her transgender positions.

According to independent analysis, Trump’s “Kamala is for they/them, President Trump is for you” ad shifted the race almost 3 points in Trump’s favor — double his 1.5-point popular vote margin. The Trump campaign specifically pointed to devastating success with suburban women, a critical voting bloc.

The numbers don’t lie: Democrats are on the wrong side of this issue. Gallup’s May 2025 survey found roughly 7 in 10 Americans — including 72% of independents and a plurality of Democrats — believe transgender athletes should only compete on teams matching their biological sex.

Even among Democrats, support for letting biological males play on girls’ teams has dropped 10 points since 2021. It now sits below 50% at just 45% — despite party leadership’s full embrace of the radical position.

Pew found 49% of Americans favor requiring transgender people to use bathrooms matching their biological sex, while only 26% oppose such policies.

When it came time to vote, the Democrat Party showed its true colors: not a single Democratic senator and just two House Democrats supported legislation barring biological males from competing against girls in K-12 schools.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called such bans “despicable.” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has been more slippery, claiming Democrats care about “fairness in sports” while refusing to support any actual legislation to protect girls.

In Maine, Gov. Janet Mills is publicly fighting the Trump administration to keep allowing biological males in girls’ sports.

Despite broad public opposition — and their own voters turning against them — Democrat elites keep supporting these radical policies. The far left has a complete veto over party positions.

The data makes the dilemma crystal clear: continue surrendering to radicals, or watch the transgender issue sink Democrats in general elections.

The DSA’s stranglehold puts the entire party on the wrong side of common sense. All signs point to this dragging down Democrats through the midterms and into 2028.

Why It Matters

Working families know biological males shouldn’t compete against their daughters. They know children shouldn’t undergo life-altering medical procedures. These aren’t controversial positions — they’re common sense shared by Americans across the political spectrum. But Democrat leaders care more about appeasing radical activists than protecting girls or listening to voters. When a party can’t stand up for basic fairness because fringe ideologues won’t allow it, that party has lost its way. And come November, they’ll lose a whole lot more.
