January 1, Critics Blast Biden Over “Really Bizarre” Claim

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY…
1861: Pony Express (Missouri to California) ends after 19 months.

President Joe Biden faced severe criticism after he falsely claimed that his student loan forgiveness plan had passed through Congress.

Biden’s speeches and press conferences are often marred by verbal blunders, and his town hall sponsored by NowThis News over the weekend was no exception. The president incorrectly said that his widespread student debt relief plan was passed through Congress, when it was actually an executive action.

“You’re probably aware I just signed a law that’s being challenged by my Republican colleagues—the same people who got PPP loans—during the, up to, in some cases up to five, six hundred thousand dollars. They have no problem with that—the individuals in Congress that got those,” Biden said.

“It’s passed. I got it passed by a vote or two, and it’s in effect,” he claimed.

A clip of Biden’s falsehood quickly spread on social media, with some critics wondering if the 79-year-old even realized he’d said anything wrong.

“President Biden claims his student loan executive order is a law that was passed by Congress and signed by him,” said Eddie Zipperer, a columnist. “If this is a lie, it’s beyond the pale. If Biden thinks this is true, then he has no clue what’s happening around him.”

Megan McArdle, a columnist for The Washington Post, expressed a similar sentiment.

“Either the president is deliberately misrepresenting the student loan cancellation in a quite Trumpian fashion, or he is actually so confused that he thinks he signed a bill rather than an executive order. This can’t be written off as a simple verbal glitch,” she said.

“Having willfully violated his oath of office by issuing an executive order he knows is flatly illegal—and having then tried to dodge review by the courts by amending it on the fly —Biden is now lying about it having gone through Congress,” said National Review writer Charles C. W. Cooke.

Some came to Biden’s defense, claiming that the video clip of Biden’s comment was taken out of context. However, Republican National Committee Rapid Response Deputy Director Jacob Schneider shot that theory down by providing a longer video of the president’s remarks.

RedState columnist Buzz Patterson said of Biden: “He literally has no idea what he’s talking about.”

Digital Strategist Greg Price called the situation “embarrassing.”

“This dementia ridden fool is not actually running the country. His handlers write words on a teleprompter and he repeats them. He barely even knows anything about his own policies,” Price said.

The Congressional Budget Office estimated that Biden’s program will cost about $400 billion over 30 years. Under the plan, the federal government would cancel $10,000 in student loan debt – $20,000 for Pell grant recipients – for borrowers who earn up to $125,000 a year or married couples who earn up to $250,000.

I’m a tax payer and don’t make anywhere near those dollar amounts. Why should I help pay off those entitled AH loans. They make enough to pay off their own loans.

Biden has a long history of making things up and lying and the media generally has gone along with it. Nothing he says can be believed. Just like when he says he’s doing everything he can to lower gas prices. He’s not.
