Wyatt’s Take

  • Karli Aylesworth says her stepfather left the Bahamas just days after being released from custody.
  • Brian Hooker says his wife fell overboard, but the family disputes his account and wants answers.
  • Officials have scaled back the search, while the U.S. Coast Guard has opened a criminal investigation.

Karli Aylesworth arrived on Great Abaco Island to find the man who last saw her mother alive had already returned to the United States.

Brian Hooker says his wife, Lynette, fell overboard from a dinghy on April 4 while they were motoring toward their sailboat near Elbow Key.

Bahamian police detained Hooker for five days before releasing him without charges, only for him to immediately leave for Atlanta.

Hooker told reporters he would stay to search, but left the country less than 24 hours later.

The missing woman’s daughter alleges Hooker has a history of domestic violence and anger issues.

Authorities in the Bahamas are scaling back search efforts based on tide and wind patterns.

Aylesworth remains skeptical of the official story, noting that things simply do not add up regarding her mother’s disappearance at sea.

She told reporters that if this was truly an accident she could accept it.

She is demanding a thorough investigation into her stepfather’s behavior.

“I think it shows his character. He somehow lost my mom at sea and cries on camera saying he’ll never stop searching, then leaves the next day,”

Aylesworth said.

Hooker’s attorney claims his client traveled to the U.S. to be at the bedside of his gravely ill mother.

He continues to maintain that choppy seas and high winds caused the tragic accident.

The U.S. Coast Guard has opened a criminal investigation into the matter as family members push for answers.

For now, a mother is still missing and a family is left wondering if justice will ever be served on the high seas.

Wyatt Matters

Middle America knows family tragedies deserve honesty, accountability, and a full investigation. When questions remain this serious, authorities should leave no stone unturned.
