January 1, Florida woman kicked off flight for smoking

Spirit Airlines ejected a passenger for smoking. Video of the incident went viral on social media.

The Florida woman reportedly lit a cigarette immediately after the flight from Detroit, Michigan to Fort Lauderdale, Florida landed and was taxiing on the runway.

“Flight attendants noticed the odor, and the other guests were quick to point out who was responsible and hand over what remained of the extinguished cigarette,” a Spirit Airlines spokesperson said. “Our crew summoned law enforcement officers to have them waiting at the gate to remove the passenger.”

The woman was escorted off the plane by Broward Sheriff’s Office Airport District deputies. She reportedly complied, and no arrests were made.
