January 1, LA Homeless Encampment Rules Spark Fresh Venice Clash

Wyatt’s Take

  • A socialist councilwoman voted against clearing a notorious homeless encampment linked to violent crime.
  • Police responded to 40 emergency calls at the site in just one year.
  • The city motion passed despite the radical opposition, showing a rare moment of common sense.

Radical politicians in Los Angeles are siding with chaos over the safety of neighborhood families. While residents witness shootings right outside their doors, some leaders still refuse to clean up the streets.

Democratic Councilwoman Nithya Raman joined a small minority to vote against an anti-camping zone in Venice.

The area has become a magnet for trouble, leaving local taxpayers terrified for their lives.

The encampment has been the site of numerous assaults and constant police activity.

Even the liberal mayor’s office criticized the move, claiming the councilwoman has voted against hundreds of cleanups in the past.

“It was absolutely crazy. I watched a guy get shot and killed across the street,” one resident said.

“These are individuals that have been offered alternatives again and again and again and are choosing to remain encamped on our streets,” Councilwoman Traci Park said.

Despite billions in spending, the homeless population in the state has jumped 60 percent since 2015.

Many argue these policies only move the problem around rather than solving the root cause of the disorder.

Raman, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, defended her vote by claiming existing laws already cover the issue.

She is currently challenging the incumbent mayor in an upcoming election.

Wyatt Matters

Working people deserve safe streets and predictable laws. When politicians prioritize the lifestyle of lawbreakers over the safety of law-abiding families, the foundation of a community begins to crumble.

Keep on voting for these liberals who just want to tax everyone until they can’t afford anything and give it to illegals and criminals and pocket whatever is left and don’t care about what happens to the people who support them

Keep on voting for these liberals who just want to tax everyone until they can’t afford anything and give it to illegals and criminals and pocket whatever is left and don’t care about what happens to the people who support them. When will the people finally wake up.

“Many argue these policies only move the problem around rather than solving the root cause of the disorder.”

Um, yes, and what exactly is the root cause of the problem? And why is their problem our problem collectively? Old adage: “You get more of the behavior you reward,” so stop rewarding them, even if it’s only allowing vagrant encampments and camping in public spaces! It’s public space, WE ALL own those spaces! Unless they can find private properties that will allow them to setup their encampments, they’re in violation of local laws and covenants. Give them a reason to get educated, develop a revenue generating skill, become something (more than a career squatter), be something, have something, do something (of value) . . .
