Wyatt’s Take

  • Markwayne Mullin brings a working-class mindset to the Department of Homeland Security.
  • Critics are already targeting him because he comes from the trades instead of elite political circles.
  • The transition comes at a critical time as border security and funding remain major concerns.

Working-class Americans finally have one of their own leading the Department of Homeland Security with Markwayne Mullin. The media may obsess over Kristi Noem’s exit, but the real story is the job ahead.

The transition at DHS comes at a critical time as the border remains a mess and government funding hangs by a thread. President Trump made the right call to move on from Noem.

Jimmy Kimmel recently mocked the new secretary for his background in the trades during a late-night segment.

“Let me make this very clear, I’m not upset that the head of Homeland Security used to be a plumber. I’m upset that he isn’t still a plumber,” Kimmel said.

That kind of sneering shows exactly why Middle America has tuned out the coastal media machine.

Mullin has a tough road ahead with a frozen budget and a department that needs serious fixing. Unlike his predecessor, he seems focused on the mission rather than the television cameras.

The demoncrats hate that he’s not a career politician because he can’t be bought like the rest of them.

Jimmy Kimmel should shut his pie hole. Mr Mullin had a respectable career that provided a needed service to the community. Kimmel has done nothing of any importance to serve anyone, except himself.

A lawyer woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of water running in his basements. He could not stop it and called a plumber. The plumber fixed the problem in 15 minutes and charged $500. The lawyer said I’m a lawyer and never charged $500 for 15 minutes work. The plumber replied, “Neither did I when I was a lawyer.”
