President Donald Trump made it clear he wants a voice in Iran’s leadership after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death.
In an Axios interview, he rejected Mojtaba Khamenei as successor.
“They are wasting their time. Khamenei’s son is a lightweight. I have to be involved in the appointment, like with Delcy [Rodriguez] in Venezuela,” Trump said.
“Khamenei’s son is unacceptable to me. We want someone that will bring harmony and peace to Iran.”
Trump warned a hardliner pick could mean war again in five years.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt backed him to the New York Times.
“The president stated: ‘We want to be involved in the process of choosing the person who is going to lead Iran into the future, so we don’t have to go back every five years and do this again and again,’” she said. “‘Somebody that’s going to be great for the people, great for the country.’”
To NBC, Trump named candidates safe from strikes and joked about Iranians asking his advice.
“We want to go in and clean out everything,” Trump said. “We want them to have a good leader. We have some people who I think would do a good job.”
Officials like VP JD Vance and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth stress no nation-building, just hitting military targets.
Trump cited his Venezuela role aiding Delcy Rodriguez after Maduro’s capture.
America first means guiding allies to peace so working folks here stay safe.

President Trump – like you, America CAN NOT accept the new leader (MK) as Iran’s ruler. This “leader”, appointed by those who continue to be in charge of their current Gov’t are the same evil people we are attempting to replace/eliminate.
