Wyatt’s Take

  • CBS’s 60 Minutes isn’t the victim—it’s shaping the narrative.
  • Critics say editing tricks and political bias keep guests away, not “fear.”
  • Leadership changes and scandals show the problem runs deep at CBS.

CBS 60 Minutes is claiming they’re under attack, but critics say they’re the ones twisting the truth and propping up their favorite politicians. The show’s track record of deceptive editing and partisan reports is turning off guests and viewers alike.

Scott Pelley said at the Walter Cronkite Awards:

“We are all experiencing trouble getting people to appear on our broadcast because of the fear that has spread across the country.”

But many say it’s CBS’s own actions that keep guests away.

Big names have stepped down recently at CBS. After Bill Owens left over threats to journalistic independence, CEO Wendy McMahon soon followed, hinting at disagreements over the network’s direction.

McMahon wouldn’t give specifics, but people pointed to political pressure and Trump’s lawsuit over a deceptively edited Kamala Harris interview as reasons for the shakeups.

The controversy deepened when CBS replaced an awkward answer from Harris with something else, and never released the unedited transcript.

Reports claim CBS has a history of misleading edits and protecting certain politicians while grilling others. Past scandals resulted in high-profile departures, but the network’s problems only seem to grow.

Since 2016, critics say 60 Minutes has aired highly partisan stories, softballed Democrats, and gone after Trump officials.

Their coverage has included false accounts about Russia investigations and Biden family scandals, while editing interviews to hurt Republicans.

This bias isn’t just about one show. The whole network, now led by Bari Weiss, faces claims of pushing an agenda, especially after her controversial town hall with Erika Kirk.

Many see these editorial stunts as proof that the media no longer just covers stories—it tries to control them.

Trust in CBS is down, and regular Americans are calling for transparency and honest reporting that actually serves the public, not special interests. Stay aware and demand answers from powerful media outlets.

Wyatt Matters

Media bias leaves working folks without honest news and Americans need reporting they can count on, not stories shaped to suit political favorites. Keeping networks accountable is key to defending the values and truth that matter in our communities.
