January 1, Mike Johnson Stands Firm As Affordability Crisis Threatens GOP Majority

Wyatt’s Take
- Mike Johnson refuses to back down even as prices keep crushing working families
- Democrats are betting that voter anger over groceries and gas will flip the House
- Johnson insists the record shows steady leadership while the left pushes more spending
Mike Johnson is holding the line on the House GOP’s performance while warning that rising costs threaten Republican control this fall. He pointed to legislative wins on border security and energy production as proof that the current majority has delivered results where previous leadership failed.
Johnson told supporters the choice is simple. “Keep the grown-ups in charge.”
Americans face a simple question: what is best for me and my family, my children, and my aging parents?
Republicans offer common sense solutions and a steady hand at the wheel — while the Democrats are going crazy.

Democrats have poured money into ads highlighting grocery prices and housing costs in key districts. House Republicans counter that the spending spree under the Biden years created the inflation now squeezing paychecks.
Johnson argued the GOP’s agenda of lower taxes and reduced regulation remains the only path back to affordability. He dismissed calls from some inside the party to shift messaging away from past achievements.
“Extraordinary record” is how Johnson described the last two years of Republican legislation.
Critics inside the conference worry the affordability message is not landing fast enough with voters who still feel the pinch at the checkout line. Johnson pushed back, saying the alternative is a return to the same policies that drove prices higher in the first place.
Outside groups aligned with Democrats have already begun heavy spending in suburban districts where inflation remains the top voter concern. Johnson said Republicans must stay focused on the contrast between their record and the previous administration’s approach.

Working families in the heartland want leaders who remember what a dollar used to buy and who will fight to bring those prices back down instead of telling them to get used to it.
