Wyatt’s Take

  • President Trump plans to join the Navy’s 250th birthday celebration in Virginia even though the government is shut down.
  • He blames Democrat leaders for trying to ruin the event but insists the show will go on.
  • The celebration honors the service and sacrifice of U.S. Navy personnel and their families.

President Trump says a government shutdown won’t stop him from joining the Navy’s 250th birthday event in Norfolk on Sunday.

He’ll be there with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Naval Secretary John Phelan, with First Lady Melania Trump also by his side.

“I am proud to announce that on Sunday, October 5th, I will be hosting a Salute to the Fleet in Norfolk, Virginia, to honor our brave men and women of the United States Navy.”

Trump posted on Truth Social.

He accused Democrat leaders of trying to spoil the celebration through the shutdown but said he would not let the Navy down.

“Despite the Democrats’ incompetence, I refuse to let the Navy down as their Commander-in-Chief.”

Trump wrote.

“This will be the largest Celebration in the History of the Navy.”

“Thousands of our brave Active Duty Servicemembers and Military Families will be in attendance, and I look forward to this special day with all of them.”

“See you on Sunday!”

The Navy will celebrate 250 years of serving America, with the event set for 3 p.m. Eastern.

These are the moments that remind us what matters most—our service members, our history, and unity in tough times. Celebrate those who keep America safe and free.
