January 1, War Secretary Reveals Secret Middle East Trip to Troops

Wyatt’s Take
- Hegseth met with pilots and soldiers carrying out strike missions against Iranian targets.
- The trip was kept quiet to protect operational security and the service members involved.
- American forces have reportedly struck more than 11,000 targets since operations began in February.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said he visited troops in the Middle East to see their work firsthand.
“I had a chance to bear witness, and I witnessed the best of America. I witnessed warriors, a brotherhood of men and women, warriors all,” Hegseth said.
He also spoke with Air Force and Navy pilots carrying out missions while defending their bases from incoming drones.
“I put on a headset and spoke to one crew in the cockpit, locked and loaded each and every day,” he added.
Military leaders say the Air Force has begun B-52 missions and destroyed more than 150 Iranian naval vessels.
Army officers are also developing new maneuvers to neutralize Iranian missiles as the mission expands across the region.
Wyatt Matters
