A famous 90s television star is opening up about a terrifying medical emergency that nearly took her life.
The pressure of fame and personal tragedy led to a dangerous spiral involving booze and pills.
Jennie Garth found herself in a dark place after years of skyrocketing fame and personal loss.
The actress admitted that the pressure to stay skinny and perfect for the cameras took a heavy toll on her mental health.
“I’m my own worst critic,” she said.
The situation reached a breaking point following her 2012 divorce after seventeen years of marriage.
One night of mixing pills and alcohol resulted in an emergency trip to the hospital to have her stomach pumped.
“I was so hard on myself,” she added.
The health scare served as a wake-up call that sent her to a rehabilitation center to get her life back together.
She realized that self-medicating was only dimming her light and hurting her relationships with others.
“I spent a good amount of years being hurt, sad, just tormented by it, and it eked out into all aspects of my life,” she said.
Garth is now using her story to show others that it is possible to let go of grief and anger.
She decided she no longer wanted to carry the weight of her past mistakes and chose a path of healing.
“I noticed my light really dimming. I wasn’t putting off good vibes. I could see it in the mirror,” she said.
Now, the actress says she is finally comfortable in her own skin and focused on finding purpose.
This journey toward sobriety represents a major shift from the toxic lifestyle that nearly destroyed her.
Wyatt Matters
This story reminds us that fame and money can’t fix a broken spirit or deep-seated pain. True strength comes from faith, family, and the courage to face hardship head-on.

I have rentals, and the same excuse came from everybody. Well, you are letting them do it, so why can`t I? I started drinking, and my properties went to scheit. People took my kindness for ignorance and cowardice. I woke up one morning and had a good look at what was going on around me. I was drunk all drunk half of the time, and half drunk the rest of the time. What a waste of time and money for booze and cigarettes. Afraid of getting busted driving for alcohol. I decided to quit both at the same time. Smoking tobacco would give me the shakes. The booze would get me down. I was up and down all day. All I wanted to do was feel normal. I remembered what it was like without these crutches. I locked myself in my bedroom and shook the walls apart. Sweating with body cramps one minute. I would shower, then freeze to death the next. It took me 3 weeks before I wanted anything other than a fifth of booze or a cigarette. The desire to quit has to come from within yourself. If you go into rehabilitation because a judge forces you. It won`t work; you have to hit rock bottom first. I quit cigarettes and booze the same day. September 28, 2005. I was drinking a 12-pak of the 5.5 Molson Ice beer along with a 5 th of Canadian Mist bourbon a day. I have been in a couple of fights since then. No one disrespects me anymore. I am back.
