Wyatt’s Take

  • Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed a resolution recognizing June as Nuclear Family Month.
  • The measure centers the traditional family and drew criticism from advocacy groups.
  • Supporters say it reflects values they believe strengthen communities across the state.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee is drawing a line in the sand by signing a resolution to recognize June as Nuclear Family Month. This move puts the focus back on the traditional home instead of the usual social agendas pushed every summer.

Governor Lee signed the measure after it cleared both the House and the Senate with strong support.

The legislation is clear about the role of the traditional household in keeping the state strong.

“The nuclear family is under attack in our beloved State and nation, and it is our responsibility to uplift, protect, and support values that help Tennessee prosper,” the resolution states.

Advocacy groups were quick to complain about the new designation.

They argue that lawmakers should not use their platforms to define family structures so narrowly.

“The strongest families are grounded in love, not legislative definitions. It is disturbing to see lawmakers use their platform to intentionally exclude their own constituents,” a representative for GLAAD stated.

While Tennessee looks inward, other parts of the country are moving in a different direction.

In New York City, local officials celebrated the return of pride flags to federal property after a legal fight.

“This is a victory for the LGBTQ+ community and for our entire city,” Mayor Zohran Mamdani wrote.

“It’s a reminder that New Yorkers won’t let our history be rewritten.”

Heartland values start in the home, where families and community still matter most. It is refreshing to see leaders defend those foundations instead of chasing trends from the coasts.

Thanks Tennessee. Hope all states do the same but we know the ones that won’t

“It’s a reminder that New Yorkers won’t let our history be rewritten.”

That’s funny! Because Mamdoni is rewriting history everyday as what happens every time a communist takes over. They have to erase your history so that communism is the only history.

As far as their ridiculous flag, If we’re up to the gay community, the gay fricken flag would be the only flag flying in the whole state, country, and world!
